The term literally means "monster." IDET is home to an enormous number of non-human species — but precisely because there are so many species, there are beings whose specific species cannot be identified, and these beings are referred to as Creatures. In other words, they are non-human Livings, but their detailed species is unknown. As a result, Creatures tend to differ greatly from one individual to the next. They are also the most commonly encountered Livings within IDET.

In some cases, the species of a Creature is eventually identified at a later point, at which time the label "Creature" is no longer used — the newly identified species name is used instead. (Examples of species that have been identified in this way include vampires, witches, and dragons.)
